Running a professional training academy, Alka Gupta kept meeting people who needed spoken English, confidence and life skills far more than her fee-paying students did — and could not reach them.
In 2007 she registered Parlance Endowment Society to deliver the same curriculum on a no-profit basis. The work went to government school children, tribal students, unemployed women and school teachers, and grew from there into health, wellness and community programmes.
